The NHL is back.
Ever since the Blues defeated the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup on June 12, the summer months have slowly passed by without hockey. But that ends Wednesday.
The NHL season gets underway Wednesday night with a marquee doubleheader on NBC Sports Network: Capitals-Blues at 5:00 p.m. PT and Sharks-Golden Knights at 7:30 p.m. PT.
The Sharks are coming off a terrific season, but one that ended in heartbreak yet again. San Jose lost to the eventual-champion Blues in the Western Conference final in six games, after injuries to Erik Karlsson, Joe Pavelski and Tomas Hertl depleted its roster.
While Pavelski left San Jose for Dallas in the offseason, Karlsson re-signed with the Sharks and expectations remain sky-high for the Sharks as they hope to win the Cup for the first time in franchise history.
Sharks play-by-play television broadcaster Randy Hahn will join NHL experts from the NBC Sports regional networks to look ahead to hockey season on the 2019 NHL Preview Show, which will stream on the MyTeams app and on NBCSportsBayArea.com. The show will air Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT, and you can join the conversation on Twitter using the hasting #NHLfaceoffNBC.
