Sharks Want to Win Game 6 Vs. Avalanche, Avoid Another Playoff Game 7

The last time the Sharks played a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they completed one of the craziest comebacks in sports history in what is easily the greatest win in the team's history.

Memories from that wild win over the Golden Knights will last forever. But the Sharks hope they don't need a Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals.

"As much as I enjoyed my first Game 7, I'd like to forego it maybe this series," Sharks forward Evander Kane said Sunday to reporters, via the Mercury News.

The Sharks lead their best-of-seven second-round series three games to two heading into Monday night's Game 6 in Denver. Playing in front of rowdy Avalanche crowd, coach Peter DeBoer is once again preaching desperation from his club.

"We don't want to extend this if we don't have to, but, there's another team that's going to play with a whole lot of desperation because their season's on the line," DeBoer said. "We know that. Tough building to win in and we've go to in and try and do that job."

It won't be easy, too, as the Sharks will again be without captain Joe Pavelski, who has been out since that Game 7 win over Vegas after getting eight stitches as the result of a five-minute major penalty on the Golden Knights.

Winning Game 6 will not only advance the Sharks to the Conference Finals, but it will give Pavelski more rest. From coaches down to the players, San Jose knows they can't have any let-downs in Denver.
