Should Antonio Brown's Ben Roethlisberger Comments Worry Derek Carr?

By all accounts, Derek Carr and Antonio Brown have been hitting it off early in the star receiver's Raiders tenure.

Carr and Brown worked out a number of times on their own in the offseason, making sure their timing and chemistry are in lockstep when the season kicks off.

Brown has praised Carr publicly and the Raiders quarterback has spoken glowingly about the pass-catcher's work ethic and Hall of Fame talent. Despite the drama surrounding Brown during training camp, all is well between the QB and his No. 1 target.

But, things once were all good in Pittsburgh between Brown and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. They were friends, and they relished in lighting up opposing defenses. Then the relationship deteriorated, causing Brown to demand a trade this offseason.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports' Michelle Tafoya, Roethlisberger lamented the criticism he directed toward AB last season, noting it "ruined a friendship." Brown clapped back on Twitter, claiming he and Roethlisberger never were friends, despite a number of statements to the contrary. The seven-time Pro Bowler deleted the tweet shortly thereafter.

So, how should Carr feel about his new friend and top target Brown trashing his former quarterback? ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky thinks Carr should be very concerned.

"He should take his own advice and shut up already," Orlovsky said of Brown on "Get Up!" "It's like this attention-craving drama queen that belongs on the Bravo! Network. It was the feet, and that got him attention. Then it was the helmet, and that brought him attention. Now it's like, 'OK, what can I do or say to create some attention?'

"Derek Carr has got to be sitting there going, 'Wait, what?' Because you publicly stated multiple times on your own accord that you and Big Ben were best friends," Orlovsky said. "And now you're coming out saying you were just playing the game to get your stats up. If I'm Derek Carr I'm going, 'How can I trust you?' Because you just played Big Ben in many ways, so I'm not going to trust what you say because you're obviously going back on your word on what you said about you and Big Ben's relationship."

So far, Carr and Brown have been inseparable and are on the same page as the season approaches.

With a Hall-of-Fame weapon like Brown, Carr finally will be able to unleash his arm and torment defenses down the field. He just has to hope he and Brown stay as good of friends as they are now.
