Source: Kings Showing Interest in All-Star Free Agent Al Horford

SACRAMENTO -- It's good to be the Kings?

NBC Sports California has confirmed that the Kings are one of the teams interested in free agent big man Al Horford.

The 33-year-old center walked away from a $30 million player option with the Boston Celtics earlier this month and rumors instantly began surfacing of a potential four-year, $100 million deal on the open market for the free agent.

A five-time All-Star, Horford posted a modest 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.3 blocks in 29 minutes for the Celtics last season.

The 12-year NBA veteran is known for his locker room presence and defensive prowess. He also knocked down 36 percent from behind the arc last season and could help facilitate the Kings' offense and help spread the floor.

There is no early word on what the Kings might be willing to offer once free agency begins on June 30, but any deal for Horford is expected to start in the $25 million per season range.

The Kings are looking for a major upgrade at the center position this summer and Horford is a high-end option that could help mentor the Kings' young core.
