Steph Curry: Alfonzo McKinnie ‘not Even Close to Scratching the Surface'

Alfonzo McKinnie entered training camp on a non-guaranteed basis. He ended up making the Opening Night roster.

Just before the start of the regular season, McKinnie signed a contract with the Warriors -- but it reportedly does not become fully guaranteed for the rest of the season until Jan. 10.

At this point, it will be surprising if he doesn't finish the season with Golden State. He's been that impressive so far.

"It seems like whenever he's on the court -- he obviously gives 110 percent -- but he's locked in on how he can make a difference," Steph Curry told reporters after Sunday's win in Brooklyn. "He's an amazing rebounder, he has confidence when he shoots the ball ... he doesn't need much time to get going -- if he plays two minutes or 10 minutes.

"Just amazing to watch a guy who's had a wild journey in terms of where he's been to get to this point -- taking this opportunity and running with it. Seven games in, he's not even close to scratching the surface of what type of player he's going to be."

McKinnie delivered his best performance of the season vs the Nets. The 26-year old registered 9 points on 4-for-5 shooting, five rebounds, one steal and one block.

He did things like this:

McKinnie is shooting over 57 percent from the field and is 4-for-8 from 3-point territory. He passes the eye test and is looking like a guy who belongs in the NBA.

"It would not surprise me if he is a huge, huge catalyst for us -- especially in those games that matter at the end of the year," Curry added.

McKinnie grew up in Chicago and the Warriors' next game is Monday night at the Bulls...
