ESPN's Lisa Salters crouched down to talk to the young Stephen Curry who was front and center of the 2009 NBA Draft -- his mother Sonya looked on.
He was going to the New York Knicks ... right?
"They were picking at the eight spot, so they had told me 'you're on the board at eight, we're going to take you," Curry said in an interview during episode five of "Stephen vs The Game."
"So going into the draft, that's a good feeling to have."
A young Blake Griffin's name was announced and he was the first overall pick heading to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Curry sat at his designated table with his hands placed in a prayer-like form as point guard after point guard were wished congratulations on the next chapter of their lives.

"That kind of threw me for a loop -- and I was like hmm that's weird," Curry said.
His confidence was off. Yeah -- Stephen Curry's confidence was off.
But then it was time for the seventh pick --with his hands still pressed together, he looked up at former NBA Commissioner David Stern who was on stage.
"With the seventh pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors select ... "
You know the rest.
He was caught off guard -- he wasn't expecting his name to be called one selection early. His reaction appeared to be one of almost unwanting, that's how it was interpreted anyway, he explained.
Curry put his head down on the table and banged his fist twice -- but he wasn't upset, he just didn't know what to do with himself.
A few Knicks fans appeared to be displeased -- OK, they were pissed.
Momma Curry was excited and proud for her son -- but geographically, she wasn't sure. And neither was Steph, really.
"Where is Golden State," she laughed in an interview during the Facebook series.

She admitted she was a little disappointed at first, but "that's where God wanted him."
