SAN FRANCISCO -- The latest news in the Stephen Curry saga is simple: Wait for more news.
Less than 24 hours after Curry broke his left hand, the Warriors announced that the guard underwent a CT scan and specialists will look at the results to determine if the injury requires surgery. The team hopes to get the test results by Friday.
Curry injured his hand in the third quarter of Thursday's 121-110 loss to the Suns after Phoenix big man Aron Baynes fell on his hand following a layup attempt. Curry immediately went to the locker room, opting not to shoot the ensuing free throws, disqualifying him for the remainder of the contest.
Curry's injury comes as the Warriors are navigating a unique time of health. Expected contributors Willie Cauley Stein and Alec Burks missed the majority of training camp, contributing to Golden State's 1-4 start. Prior to Wednesday's game, the team announced guard Jacob Evans would miss at least three weeks with an adductor strain, while big man Kevon Looney would continue neurological tests on his hamstring.
"Obviously, it's been a tough start for us on many levels," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Wednesday night. "So, we're just trying to find our footing. This puts us in a tough spot, so we'll assess it and go from there."
