Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been outspoken for years on America's growing problem of gun violence. On Wednesday in Miami, the team is hosting students from Parkland, Fla. before their game against the Heat.
"You try to put yourself in their shoes, and you can't imagine at any age," Kerr said to reporters, "but to have to go through that at 14, 15, 16 years old ... you imagine someone walking in right now and spraying us with a semi-automatic weapon, that's horrifying. They had to go through that.
"We have to decide as a country, do we want to do anything about that? The answer is pretty simple. In my mind, yes we want to do something about it. The fortunate thing is, the young people leading this drive are going to be a lot more impactful than old people like me."

Kerr sent a heartfelt message earlier this month to those affected by the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. The one-year anniversary was on Valentine's Day.

Kerr's father Malcolm was assassinated by a gunman in 1984 outside his office at the American University of Beirut. He and several Warriors will continue speaking out against gun violence, and serving as much more than just an athlete.
