Suns Fire GM Ryan McDonough Hours Before Facing Warriors in Preseason

If they weren't already, the Phoenix Suns are officially a hot mess.

Just nine days before they play their 2018-19 regular season opener against Dallas, the Suns fired general manager Ryan McDonough.

Oh, and the Suns play the Warriors in preseason action Monday in Oakland. Good timing.

McDonough had served as the GM of the Suns since May of 2013.

The Suns had a busy offseason. With the No. 1 overall pick, they selected Arizona center DeAndre Ayton, re-signed rising star Devin Booker to a five-year, $158 million max contract and signed free agent Trevor Ariza. They also acquired forward Ryan Anderson and guard De'Anthony Melton from the Rockets for forward Marquese Chriss and guard Brandon Knight.

This is the second straight season the Suns have made a big change at an off time. Last year, after just three games, Phoenix fired head coach Earl Watson.
