Tigers “Slam” A's in The Rain

After rain delayed the start of the game by an hour, the Tigers proceeded to pound the A's into submission by hitting two grand slams on their way to a 14-1 blowout win over Oakland.  The game was actually delayed for a second time in the fourth inning, and with the score 9-1 Tigers, the A's were hoping for a rainout.  This delay lasted for over an hour, but the game continued unfortunately for Oakland.

Ryan Raburn hit a Grand Slam off of A's starting pitcher Brett Anderson in the bottom of the first and Brandon Inge hit his slam after the second delay in the sixth. The A's got their lone run in the fourth when red hot Adam Kennedy (2-for-4) singled in Matt Holliday.

Although Anderson (0-4) had a rough outing he didn't get much help from the A's defense (4 errors) as only three of the nine runs given up were earned.  Detroit starter Edwin Jackson (3-2) pitched well with 7 IP, 1 ER and 6 K's.  He returned to the game following the second rain delay.

The series resumes Saturday night at 4:05 PM.  Dallas Braden (3-4) will be on the hill vs. Rick Porcello (3-3).
