The Los Angeles Angels announced Monday that starting pitcher Tyler Skaggs has died. He was 27.

He and his wife, Carli, had recently been married.
Skaggs was drafted by the Angels in 2009 of the first round of the 2009 MLB Draft. Across seven seasons in the league, he accumulated a 4.41 ERA with 476 strikeouts in 520.2 innings.
The Angels are currently in Arlington preparing to play the Texas Rangers. The Monday night game has been canceled to make up at a later date.

Skaggs' last start was against the A's on June 29.
No further details have been made public in regard to the cause of death.
