Union City Factory Prints 15,000 Warriors T-Shirts

It's American tradition when your favorite sports team wins to high five your buddies on the couch, pop open a bottle of champagne, and put on a T-shirt to mark the occasion.

Well, Studio 1240 in Union City was hoping to cash in on that profitable tradition by printing as many Golden State Warriors T-shirts as fast as humanly possible, after the team beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night.

In this case, on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, that was about 15,000 shirts in 12 hours - or 20 a minute - according to company president Chuck Johnston.

The shirts will sell for about $15 in most big box stores, he said.

Inside the plant, factory workers rolled the blue shirts with yellow paint, and etched a design of the Oracle Arena inside the word, CHAMP, across the chest. They made the process look as easy as a Steph Curry three-pointer. The company has had practice, though.

"We did all three Giants World Series shirts, some for the 49ers conference champions, and then this one," Johnston said.
