Warriors Ink New Radio Deal With 95.7 The Game

Change your presets: Golden State leaves KNBR after 32 seasons, but now more games will air

The days of searching for Warriors broadcasts during baseball season are coming to an end.

After 32 consecutive seasons on KNBR, where they often get bumped down the dial for San Francisco Giants games, the Warriors are taking their broadcasts to FM 95.7 The Game.

“We’re excited about our new partnership with 95.7 The Game and the opportunity to provide our fans with increased coverage of the Warriors in a centralized location,” Warriors President & COO Rick Welts said in a statement. “Under the terms of this partnership, virtually every Warriors game – including the playoffs – will be broadcast on 95.7. Additionally, our fans will benefit from increased programming overall throughout the year, including extended pre- and post-game shows, more in-season programming, a dedicated off-season presence and numerous call-in shows featuring front office staff, players and broadcasters.

"We look forward to working in conjunction with an extremely talented group of individuals at 95.7 The Game and its parent company, Entercom, as we continue our journey through one of the most exciting times in the history of our franchise.”

The move will take place immediately, as games will be broadcast by The Game beginning with the 2016-17 season and last through at least 2018-19.

It’s apparent the Warriors, the most popular team in the NBA even before the July acquisition of four-time scoring champion Kevin Durant, are sacrificing KNBR’s stronger signal to become the No. 1 priority at the new station.

Play-by-play announcer Tim Roye will return for his 22nd season with the Warriors.

The status of part-time analyst Tom Tolbert – who hosts a sports-talk show on KNBR – is uncertain. He has been a regular at home games over the past three seasons, but the new arrangement leaves him in a tricky situation.

Because of the reduced broadcast signal, the Warriors are expected to utilize additional Northern California affiliates to supplement their partnership with The Game.
