The team that scored first lost the first two games of the Sharks and Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup playoff second-round series. If the Sharks win Tuesday's Game 3, they'll be the first.
Logan Couture gathered a loose puck in front of Avalanche goaltender Philip Grubauer, back-handing his own rebound in off of the crossbar with 4:36 remaining in the first period.

The goal -- Couture's seventh of the postseason -- gave him sole possession of the playoff goal-scoring lead. He put a bow on the feat, and bowed to the Pepsi Center crowd.

Just over three minutes after Couture's goal, his line got on the board again. Timo Meier intercepted a breakout pass from Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson, carried the puck into the offensive zone and rifled a shot over Grubauer's blocker side to double the Sharks' lead. Like Couture, Meier used the crossbar to his advantage.

No team that scored first has won a game in this series, but no team that scored first has taken a two-goal lead, either. The Sharks carried said lead into the first intermission, hoping to be the first to do both.
