A's first baseman Yonder Alonso was named the American League's Player of the Week.
Alonso hit five homers with 10 RBI for the week ending Sunday, with a .409 batting average and a 1.136 on base-plus-slugging percentage.
It's recognition for an outstanding start to his season, as Alonso surprisingly has emerged as one of Oakland's top two run producers along with Khris Davis.
