Court Says No to Cheap Apple Clones

Want to jump on the Apple computer bandwagon but scared of the price of commitment? Well you'll have to keep waiting because one cheap alternative to buying a Mac is no more.

Apple won a federal court order blocking Psystar from creating cheaper Mac clones. The Miami-based Psystar started installing Apple's operating system on generic personal computers and selling them online almost two years ago.

Steve Jobs and company was less than thrilled by the news and filed a lawsuit alleging Psystar infringed on their copyrights.

A judge agreed with Apple and issued a permanent injunction against Psystar Tuesday even after the companies reached a $2.67 million partial settlement two weeks ago.

At least you can still Hackintosh a netbook as long as you don't update your software.
