Google Co-Founder Spends a Fortune on a Yacht

Larry Ellison isn't the only fancy Silicon Valley type with a multi-million dollar yacht.

Google co-founder Larry page just dropped $45 million on a yacht. That's one way to spend your money if you're not going to give billions to charity.

Page purchased the yacht in New Zealand late last year from millionaire Douglas Myers. The 200-foot yacht was built in 1999 by German boat-builders Scweers but it was redone in 2009.

It includes interiors done by renowned French designer Philippe Starck, as well as sunbathing decks, indoor and outdoor dining areas and there is even a spot for a helicopter to land on deck.

The boat can accommodate 10 guests along with 14 crew members. Its previous owner used to charter the yacht out for $343,000 a week, not including gas and food.
