Google Space: Tech Giant Plans Investment in Virgin Galactic

Google is looking to expand to the heavens with a reported plan to invest in Virgin Galactic, Sir Richard Branson's space travel startup, according to reports.

Sky News first reported that Google is looking to invest "hundreds of millions" into rocketship efforts, with $30 million specifically earmarked for Virgin's space tourism efforts. And Google's sight toward the heavens are taking over other companies.

The tech giant also purchased a solar-powered drone firm, and is actively testing a "balloon-powered" Internet, the Wall Street Journal reported.

That's all in order to deploy balloon-borne Internet access to billions of users around the world, Sky News reported.
