Google Pulls Plug on Free Wi-Fi in Mountain View Citywide, City Considers New Plan for Public Wi-Fi Downtown

Google is pulling the plug on its free citywide Wi-Fi service in Mountain View.

Google installed the network eight years ago.

But the network has not kept up with the increasing demands for data. and there has been complaints about its reliability.

The Mercury News reports that Google is going to take it down over the next two months.

Mountain View's city council, however, is considering a plan this week to build a new public Wi-Fi system for the downtown area.
