#ILookLikeAnEngineer Campaign Exceeds SF Billboard Fundraising Goals

A crowdfunding campaign to promote the diversity of the Bay Area engineer community is taking off.

As of this writing, $9,984 has been raised on Indiegogo to put towards the rental of a billboard in San Francisco that promotes a social media campaign called #ILookLikeAnEngineer. The financial goal was $3,500.

The hashtag, started by engineer Isis Wenger, encourages women and people of color to announce their positive presence in a field that isn't always recognized for being as multicultural as it really is.

Wenger told TechCrunch that she isn't behind the fundraising effort, but that "People have taken the message I started and are continuing the conversation themselves. I am absolutely taken with gratitude."
