$27 million Silicon Valley home now owned by Seattle man

Let's all welcome Paul Allen to Silicon Valley.

He's certainly earned it.

The Microsoft cofounder recently plunked down $27 million for a home in Silicon Valley, which the Seattle resident will occasionally visit, according to Forbes.

The new home base for Allen in California is in ritzy Atherton. Allen, who is a "collector of trophy properties" -- as well as sports teams; he's the owner of the Seattle Seahawks as well as the Portland Trailblazers.

Allen also opened up a wing of his venture capital firm, Vulcan Capital, in nearby Palo Alto.

The Atherton home is part of an impressive portfolio of properties owned by the Mercer Island resident, including spreads in Idaho and Hawaii, and places in Paris, London, and Malibu, Forbes reported.
