Startups “Disrupt” Tech Industry

Making their pitch in San Francisco

Will it be Urban Buddy? How about PledgeRunner?

Which startups from the 2013 TechCrunch Disrupt class will be the breakout success? The one to hire hundreds of workers, and bring in tens of millions of dollars in VC funding.

OK, before we get ahead of ourselves, it's always cool to run the gauntlet of what TC calls "Startup Alley:" dozens upon dozens of hopeful startups, looking for some funding, and maybe a little press.

They come from all over the world, both to pitch, and to listen. Among this year's TCD speakers, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Disrupt is a good place to find executive wisdom, an even better place to get a peek into what the future of the tech industry might look like.

This year, mobile is king. Next year? Who knows. Maybe it'll be the year of the Buddy, or the Pledge. Stay tuned.
