Universal Translator Is Powered by Magic, Apparently

Normally, concept designs are at least loosely based on existing technologies, making them seem possible and somewhat realistic. But not this Universal Translator! I'm not sure we'll have the technology to actually produce this thing in 20 years, let alone now.

You see, it's essentially a thing slab of glass. You can hold that slab up and look through it, and it will provide you with a context for anything you're looking at, from places to objects. Oh, and it can also translate from any language to any other language, both text and voices.

Sure, that's possible. I don't even think you could make a cellphone that looked like this, let alone a device that could do all of these magical things. But hey, nice renderings.
