Yahoo CEO's Lunch Auction to Benefit East Palo Alto School

Let the bidding begin. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is the latest Bay Area big wig to auction off a lunch in the name of charity.

The proceeds from the auction will go to Aspire East Palo Alto Charter School, where Mayer and her husband have been mentors and supporters for 10 years.

A majority of low-income students attend the charter school and it has had a 100 percent college acceptance rate for its entire history.

The winner will join Mayer at Yahoo headquarters for a one-on-one lunch.

You can bid online at CharityBuzz.com from now until June 27. So far, 18 bids have put a $57,000 price tag on the meal.

Billionaire Warren Buffett just held a similar auction that benefited Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco.

Buffett will spend several hours discussing whatever the as-yet anonymous winner wants to talk about over lunch, except potential investments.

The annual charity auction of a private lunch with Buffett went for just over $1 million.

An anonymous donor had the high bid of $1,000,100 when the bidding ended Friday night on eBay.
