Time Inc. to Save Magazines With Digital Tablets

In case you haven't heard, the publishing industry isn't doing so hot right now. Magazine especially are being hit hard, what with the internet existing and all.

But they won't take it lying down! No sir. Just take a look at Time Inc.'s "Manhattan Project," an effort to build a business on touchscreen tablets first reported on NBCBayArea.com.

This turns out to be an interactive magazine that can work on tablet computers. It'll allow you to organize your magazine in whatever order you want to read it in, then flip through it using the touchscreen. Sounds interesting, I guess, but don't websites offer some pretty similar functionality? If not more functionality? This may not be the savior the industry is looking for, but time will tell.
