“Evil” Pleasanton Makes Steve Martin Uneasy

Pleasanton is not so pleasant. Ok, fine, it is.

Paparazzi. Robbers. Devil's spawn.

Just another day in Pleasanton.

Comedian Steve Martin's visit to the usually-idyllic East Bay city had a flavor of the wild, according to the comedian's Twitter account.

"Errant killer robot just lasered innocent cornfield," Martin tweeted Wednesday. "Turns out I was in "evil" Pleasanton. There is also good Pleasanton, where "evil" Pleasanton goes to shop for gifts and things."

Martin was in town -- actually, in Livermore -- to play a show. And "we got 3,000 standing ovations!" Martin tweeted. "One at a time, as audience left mid-show."

The "crime capital of the United States" is not in fact Pleasanton, whose welcoming arch Martin also included in his Twitter feed. Pleasanton is in fact quite, well, pleasant -- Martin's in the joke business, people.
