Police Put Squeeze on Python Thieves

Surveillance cameras captured a pair of thieves as they slithered away with a pet store python.

The theft occurred Tuesday at Desert Pets in Yucca Valley, CA. Deputies were told that two people questioned employees about the store's surveillance cameras.

Employees said the thieves -- a man and woman -- walked through the store until an employee was distracted, according to police. One subject was a lookout, the other scooped a 2- to 3-foot brown python from its caged and exited the store with the snake in his jacket.

Police said the store's surveillance system captured the theft from several angles.

Anyone with information was asked to call 760-366-4183.
