So what's it missing to make it nearly the perfect local event? That's right -- a political message.
The World Naked Bike Ride day is on Saturday, and for the sixth year in a row cyclists in the buff will gather "in protest of our dependence on fossil fuel."
In fact, thanks to the horrific, ongoing tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico, this year's event has a particularly timely frisson of frustration. And San Franciscans won't be letting it all hang out by their lonesome -- rides will take place at dozens of cities around the world.
The ride will start at Justin Herman Plaza at noon, head out to Golden Gate Park, and then return, so if you're planning on driving to the City or fear that nudity will scar you or your children for life, then probably best to avoid the planned route.
Of course, this is San Francisco, so there's nothing stopping you from nudely commuting to work on your bike every weekday.
