Japan Quake Worries Local Car Dealers

The quake has many local car dealerships worried, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami forced a number of car companies in Japan to suspend their production for at least a week. That will impact shipments of some of the most popular cars, including the Honda Fit and the Toyota Prius.

Sales of Japanese vehicles account for about half of all new car sales in the Bay Area. While there are a number of Japanese car plants in North America, a majority of the parts needed are shipped from Japan.
