Palo Alto's Jeremy Lin Helps Knicks Beat Nets

Lin scores 25 points, takes control of sluggish offense.

Bay Area native Jeremy Lin stepped off the bench Saturday night and dazzled the crowd at Madison Square Garden.

The Palo Alto High and Harvard grad had his best game to date as a pro player. He scored 25 points and teacked on seven assists for the Knicks. By the end of the night, Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" blasted through the arena and the crowd chanted Lin's name as the Knicks beat the Nets 99-92.

"Jeremy came out and gave us a great spark off the bench," said forward Amare Stoudemire.

"When you have a guy coming off your bench like that and getting 25 points, it's pretty deflating," said Nets Coach Avery Johnson.

This is Lin's second year in the NBA. He played for the Warriors last year, but was not re-signed. Lin spent parts of this season playing for the Knicks in the NBA Development League before he was called up.

Lin is the first American-born NBA player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.
