SF Clearing Out Pier 27 for America's Cup

Construction for the big race about to begin.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee will announce a new plan today to help businesses move out of Pier 27 so construction can begin for the America's Cup.

The Chronicle reports among the businesses moving Teatro ZinZanni, which will move to a tent at intersection of the Embarcadero and Broadway. A limo service and the San Francisco Chinese Chamber of Commerce will also move. They are expected to relocate to Pier 50.

In order to entice businesses to move, many are receiving rent credits.

Other businesses will need to move as preparations for the race continue.

The America's Cup will be held in 2012 and 2013. It is expected to bring $1 billion into the San Francisco economy.
