San Jose Obon Festival

Japantown celebrates the San Jose Obon festival, a time when generations of families and friends come together and enjoy a rich cultural experience in one of the three remaining Japantowns in the United States.

Partake in traditional dancing and indulge in Japanese culinary favorites like sushi, beef and chicken teriyaki, gyoza, udon, tempura, and festival favorites such as corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake.

The San Jose Obon Festival is Japantown's largest festival with two days of game booths, food booths, cultural exhibits and demonstrations, the Chidori Band, San Jose Taiko and over 1,200 dancers in full costume each evening.
