The USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum welcomes you to join them in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing mission. It is an eight-day celebration to commemorate the Apollo 11 eight-day mission and will include special activities and programs that surround the main Splashdown 50 celebratory event.
The main day of celebration on Saturday, July 20, frames the past space endeavors and how it will lead to future space exploration. It includes a meet-and-greet with the historic NASA & USS Hornet Veteran Naval Apollo Recovery Team and the appearance of the world famous space-cat Lil BUB. The Smithsonian Documentary Screening Lunar Module will be happening and other special guests are TBA.
The evening follows with the Splashdown Anniversary dinner and reception honoring the USS Hornet Association. The evening will include guest speakers, including a presentation from Joe Holt, a veteran Marine who served aboard USS Hornet during the Apollo 11 recovery and will present his experience in entertaining detail!
The dinner will be a hosted buffet included with the price of your ticket and will also have a cash full bar and period music from the 1960’s. Cocktail Attire is appreciated but is not required.
