Walking for Karen

ForKaren is dedicated to raising awareness and money for ovarian cancer research through community engagement. All donations go to the UCSF Helen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Center and support ground-breaking research lead by Dr. Jocelyn Chapman, a leading Gynecologic Oncologist.
As a faculty member within the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Jocelyn Chapman is a surgical and medical cancer expert in gynecologic malignancies and treats patients with cancerous and complex noncancerous diseases of the female reproductive system. She has expertise in aggressive surgical management of advanced ovarian and uterine cancers with special training in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and robotic surgery).
Dr. Chapman is leading a pioneering study to develop the first reliable blood test or “liquid biopsy” aimed at detecting ovarian cancer at the earliest or precancerous stages. If successful, this will be a landmark breakthrough with the potential to increase survival to 90% or higher. Dr. Chapman’s clinical research also focuses on innovating surgical and preoperative processes. In addition, she has expertise in computational genomics and collaborates with UCSF cancer center researchers to understand the genetic vulnerabilities in gynecologic cancer that can be exploited for therapeutic targeting. Her research has been published in Gynecologic Oncology, Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and Nature Biotechnology.
All proceeds will benefit Dr. Chapman's ovarian cancer research within UCSF’s Center for BRCA Research.
