Lee Kiefer and Lauren Scruggs went toe to toe, the first time two U.S. women have faced off in a gold medal bout for individual foil. Kiefer defended her title from the Tokyo Olympics and became the first American to win back to back.
Kiefer is also married to fellow Olympian and San Francisco native Gerek Meinhardt.
