The U.S. men's volleyball team, featuring former Stanford star Erik Shoji and San Jose native Taylor Averill, defeated Brazil Monday to advance to the semifinals at the Paris Olympics.
The Americans won 3-1 to set up a matchup with Poland in the semifinals on Wednesday.
