As National Night Out events get underway across the Bay Area, police hope they can connect with and empower people to make small changes that could increase public safety. Marianne Favro reports.

This Tuesday, cities across the Bay Area will host their annual National Night Out events — community gatherings held on the first Tuesday of August across the country that aim to build trust between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve.
