New Orleans was left with a lot of damage from a tornado earlier this week, destroying homes and knocking out power to thousands of homes. And it hit close to NBC Bay Area’s Jessica Aguirre whose daughter witnessed it all.

Tuesday’s tornado in Louisiana hit close to home at NBC Bay Area. Jessica Aguirre’s daughter Olivia is among a dozen California students from Cal Poly spending spring break volunteering in New Orleans and she shares her story.

Survey teams found damage consistent with an EF-3 tornado and a path around 11 miles long, the National Weather Service said.
