SMART Train

On Wednesday, the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District Board of Directors agreed to fund a second SMART train station in Petaluma, providing public transportation for the northeastern part of the city.

Voters in Sonoma and Marin counties rejected a 30-year extension of a quarter-cent sales tax for the operation of the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit’s SMART train system.

Voters will decide whether to extend an existing quarter-cent sales tax to help finance the operations of the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District’s commuter train for an additional 30 years. Terry McSweeney reports.
