San Francisco's District Attorney Kamala Harris is skipping Hollywood and going straight to Bollywood instead.

Indian actress Mallika Sherawat was in San Francisco on Tuesday visiting Twitter's headquarters. But the actress was also in the City doing research for her upcoming role as Aretha Gupta, which is inspired by Harris, she told intrepid tech reporter Scott Budman.

“I'll B ‘shadowing’ her to research my new film role," she tweeted. "I play ‘Aretha Gupta’, inspired by Kamala:-)”

And don't ask if Sherwat knows who Harris is.

"Yes, she's the female Barack Obama," Sherawat told Budman.

Harris, who is is now running for California Attorney General, made national news in 2003 when she was the first woman of African and Indian origin to be elected to district attorney in California.

Meanwhile, Sherawat has crossed the pond and moved to Los Angeles to star in Hollywood movies. She will soon be seen in the move "Hisss."
