Mission Moves Forward with Sprucing Plans

Last Wednesday was a busy day for the Planning Department: aside from releasing the multi-volume PDF set for the Fairmont Tower's residential reinvention, the department also unleashed the latest on the Mission District Streetscape Plan.

The plan, essentially a kit of trees, raised crosswalks, and the like, received an initial nod of approval — the analysis concluding that it wouldn't have any significant impact on the neighborhood's environment.

"Intended to enhance the public realm in the Mission District," the streetscape plan aims to improve two aspects of the neighborhood: alleys and small streets, and the streetscape at large.

Among the spruce-ups in the works: raised crosswalks for alleys, permeable paving, more street trees, pedestrian lighting and seating and so much more!
