11/18: Classic Flicks and Michael Jackson

An old-fashioned double feature, Cirque du Soleil, the Holiday Ice Rink and the California Academy of Sciences Platinum Tour

Catch an old-fashioned double-feature at Palo Alto's Stanford Theatre. It's showing black and white classics "Mildred Pierce" and "Angel Face" with a live organist adding to the mood. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and youth. Starts at 7:30 p.m.

Cirque du Soleil takes on the King of Pop with "Michael Jackson: Immortal World Tour." Beat it on over to the Oracle Arena in Oakland to experience a fantasy world of Jackson's music.

If there was any doubt about whether the holiday season had started, look no further than the ice rink at the Embarcadero. The Holiday Ice Rink at the Embarcadero Center went live last week and it runs late into the evening everyday through the new year. The picturesque rink is the perfect way to burn off some calories after enjoying a nice meal in the City.The rink is open until 10 p.m. and sessions sell out, so be sure to get your tickets early.

One of the coolest buildings in the Bay Area has a behind-the-scenes tour. The California Academy of Sciences opens its doors at 11 a.m. for its platinum tour, which takes visitors behind the exhibits for a an all-access look at how the greenest museum in the world operates, including how the Academy runs a rain forest in the middle of Golden Gate Park.
