11/30: Vic Chesnutt Plays “At the Cut”

Plus, take trips to Morocco and Japan tonight through animation and music

THIS GUY IS NUTS: Pardon the cheesy pun on his last name, but you must admire the crazy tenacity of Vic Chesnutt. Paralyzed at 18, he went on to write and record some hauntingly good rock. Hear him perform his latest release, At the Cut, at the Great American Music Hall tonight at 8pm.

MO'ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT: Tonight, don't miss an inspiring show of cultural exchange and great music. The Mo'Rockin Project mixes North African and American music in an effort to create world community. Listen to a new spin on traditional Moroccan melodies at Yoshi's Jazz Club in Oakland, starting at 8 p.m.

ANIMATED ADVENTURE: Hayao Miyazaki fans, you are in luck. Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea, his latest release, screens its last show tonight at the Red Vic Movie House. If you enjoyed Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, or My Neighbor Totoro, you can't miss this beautifully drawn tale of a goldfish mermaid princess. Catch the flick at 7:15 or 9 p.m. [SF Weekly]
