Civic Center Hosts World Cup Party

You don't have to be a Cal grad to be into woman's soccer. This weekend the U.S. women will make fans out of everyone as they play for the Woman's World Cup championship.

While the women will be playing Japan for the tournament crown in Germany at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, back home there will be viewing parties across the country, including right here in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department will host a free public viewing of the 2011 FIFA Woman's World Cup on a giant screen at the Civic Center Plaza.

For those who still need more than 90 minutes of women sweating in out on a soccer field for entertainment, there will also be mini-soccer games for kids and soccer skills activities.

The party starts Sunday at 11 a.m. Be sure to bring your own chairs, blankets and food.
