Good Day for a County Fair

The Alameda County Fair kicks off its 99th year today with  cook-offs, carnival rides, horse races, live music and contests.

The weather is going to be hot hot hot. Even with the appearance of the fog along the coast Wednesday, forecasters said they don't think it will reach that far inland and high temperatures could remain in the 90s Wednesday.

The theme for this year's fair is "Come Out and Play" and  organizers are celebrating its 99th anniversary with all things 99 -- 99  cents for rides and beers on select days, 99-seconds bull rides, and a  99-seconds kissing contest.

Along with the traditional corn dogs and cotton candy, fair  organizers hope to offer up record-breaking fare. Participants hope to enter  the Guinness Book of World Records with the largest hamburger at the fair's  Outlaw Grill.

The fair runs through July 10 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in  Pleasanton.
