Lightsaber Training: A Real Thing in San Francisco

Train like a Jedi. For real.

Dust off the Jedi robes and change the batteries in the lightsaber, young padawan: You're going to school.

Lightsaber school.

Sign up for real-life lightsaber training at the Golden Gate Knights, who have a facility just for this purpose at 19 Heron St. in San Francisco. The three-hour training sessions are usually every Sunday, but not this Sunday, according to SFist, who noticed the existence of real-life lightsaber school via the tech-gods at Laughing Squid.

Bring $10-15, and $5 if you want to rent one of their very own lightsabers (turns out that "Force FX" sabers aren't quite up to snuff), and then you'll be off to learn "flourishes" like "spins" and "figure-8s," choreography like what you saw in the movies (minus the endless CGI, we imagine), and finally, a five-minute meditation before the class ends.

Best part of it is you don't need any identification... though you do need to be 17 or over.

This is the class you're looking for. Move along (to the class).
