Samsung Turns Up the Sound for Its New Smartphone

Now your smart phone can help you get free tickets to see hot acts

What's the best way to a market a sleep new smartphone when trying to reach a young demographic? Get a bunch of popular musical acts to put on free shows at intimate venues across the country while endorsing your phone.

That pretty much sums up the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series. Musical acts such as Coldplay, Bush, One Republic, Bush, Lenny Kravitz and more have been playing free concerts across the country under the backdrop of an interactive installation and demonstration of the Samsung INFUSE 4G.

The new smartphone claims to be the thinnest smartphone in an already crowded field. So Samsung is using the acts to help its product stick out and let fans have a little fun while they are at.

In an era where viral video marketing has become an expensive art, Samsung's concerts is a clever -- yet old school -- approach to marketing its phones. Back is the era of celebrity endorsements but with a twist.

It also is a clear move to avoid the struggles that has fallen smartphone-makers such as BlackBerry, who have lost almost half of their market share in recent months because they have struggled to keep their phones hip in the world of Apple iPhones and HTC Inspires.

This is the fourth year that the concert series has been put on. Each year features different phones with different artists.

The tour stops in Oakland Tuesday night with One Republic set to perform for one hour at the Fox Theatre at 9:30 p.m. Free tickets are available on the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series' website. No purchase or commitment to defect to AT&T is required.

But organizers do hope that beyond rocking out to hits like "Stop and Stare" and "Apologize" that you will take a few moments to play around with the new Android-powered phone to see if it has "All the Right Moves" for you.

After Tuesday's performance by One Republic, the show will head north to Seattle where Pitbull will perform a free show Friday night at the Paramount Theatre.
