Your Favorite Music Goes Artsy

Amoeba's annual art show launches tonight

We already know that it's your favorite music store so we figured why not give a shout out to their art show as well.

The independent record empire that is Amoeba Music will host its third Annual Art Show on Friday at The Factory Party, 1343 Powell St.in Emeryville, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The best part about the party is that it is absolutely free. Okay so there is a catch of course. They ask for a $10 donation for food and beverage sampling but only $5 with that fake student I.D. (They say valid I.D's only. We Say technicalities).

The show will feature art, music and film by more than 60 original California artists who pay tribute to Andy Warhol and his Factory, the original New York City studio from 1962 to 1968. Local artists Lori Katz and Billy Sprague and live graffiti artists will be featured in the show. There will also be a boots kicking dance party kicking off at 8 p.m.

The party kicks off in a massive warehouse space divided into nine distinct rooms where guests are surrounded by art of all forms while their ears are treated to lovely live music and theatrical performances.

The show is all for a good cause too. Those who bring a can of Campbell's Soup to donate to the Alameda County Food Bank will be entered to win prizes, museum passes, og art, free dinner at local eateries and more.
