San Francisco Opera to sell costumes in time for Halloween

Not Getting Enough Sleep? What’s Your Excuse?
Costumes from classic operas will be on sale in San Francisco just in time for Halloween.

For the San Francisco Opera Halloween is no big deal. After all every night is about over the top costumes and scary monsters making women to scream.

But this Halloween will be special for the San Francisco Opera because the group will sell hundreds of its "stylish and exotic" costumes from performances past to the public just in time for the frightening evening.

The costumes range in period from medieval times and biblical times to the Renaissance and modern designs for men, women and children. Do kids perform in operas?

The sale will include "hand painted kimonos from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, photo emulsion-printed costumes from Verdi’s Macbeth, spectacular 18th-century costumes from Massenet’s Manon, and hand painted soldier costumes from Verdi’s La Forza del Destino," according to the opera.

Sale prices will range from $1 to $750 and it will take place at the San Francisco Opera Scene Shop on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25  at 800 Indiana St. Costumes prices will range from $1 to $750.
