Haight Street Whole Foods Gets Some Hate

It's not all organic cakes and gluten free bread in Whole Foods new Haight Street store.

The organic grocer's newest outpost finally opened in the famed San Francisco neighborhood, just across the street from Golden Gate Park, two weeks ago.

After years of planning, working with neighbors and concessions, the store opened with some fan fare. But not everyone in the neighborhood is happy.

As SFist points out there are still some local San Franciscans who would prefer to get their groceries from local stores owned by real life local people.

Signs have been going up around the neighborhood in support of Haight Street Market and hating on the new Whole Foods while they are at it.

The signs encourage locals to support local markets and to avoid supporting a Texas corporation -- where Whole Foods is from.
